Blue whale nadando en mar abierto, vista desde el aire

Every decibel
where it belongs.

We take our name from the loudest animal on earth.

Sound pressure scale

We work at the far end of the scale.

Sound pressure level in decibels.

Blue NoiseSince 2013

Acoustics is the one part of a project you cannot fix with a coat of paint.

01The problem

Everything else can be fixed late. The colour, the furniture, the lighting, the signage.

Noise cannot.

Noise is solved on the drawings, or it is solved by opening up what has already been built. And by then the conversation is no longer about an acoustics budget. It is about a site at a standstill, a licence that never arrives, and an opening date that drags every other date with it.

It is a risk that is rarely on the table at the moment the budget is decided.

The number first. The panel afterwards.

02The method

We measure before we propose. We model the whole thing — the building, the machinery and the surroundings, not just the element in between — and we hand over the predicted result before a single panel is bought.

If the number does not work, you find out while it is still cheap to change it.

Getting to that number takes an acoustic scanner, an intensity probe, in-situ measurement and propagation models. And 13 years of projects behind us.

When the tool we needed did not exist, we wrote it.

When it makes sense to call us.

03If it fits

We work where acoustics is a condition of the project and not a formality at the end: chains rolling out the same model across many sites, large operators, venues where music is the business. Places where the margin for error is narrow.

Doing it right has a price you know from the start. Doing it twice does not.

Even so, there are projects we are not the right team for. If yours is one of them, we will tell you.

Tell us what you are working on and we will tell you how we would approach it.

Fields

Four fields. One scale of problem.

Industrial and noise control

Plants, machinery, silencers, impact noise and vibration.

Building acoustics and code

Sound insulation between spaces, Spanish building code (CTE DB-HR) compliance and in-situ testing.

Environmental and modelling

Noise maps, propagation, local ordinances and acoustic impact studies.

Leisure, live events and venues

Festivals, concert halls, auditoriums and music venues.

What is at stake

Open. And stay open.

Three decibels is twice the sound energy. Everything is decided in margins like that.

Means

What we measure it with.

Plus sound level meters, tapping machines and standard noise sources. The tools we were missing, we wrote ourselves.
